Apple juice label

Rebelsk most

Video by Líf Laga

I had the pleasure of designing a label for Rebelsk most (rebellious juice in English) – an apple juice edition, made as a collaboration between the public health project Líf laga and Fellesforbundet – Oslo grafiske fagforening (Oslo graphic trade union).

I also designed social media (SoMe) posts for this special apple juice. It is made by young people in Stovner, a northeastern neighbourhood of Oslo.

A apple tree full of red apples, and plastic containers with red apples collected so far.
A young man on top of an apple tree, shaking it so the apples fall on the ground to be made into the apple juice.
A young man holding two bottle of apple juice, looking at the camera.

Líf laga is a project dedicated to empowering young people and creating positive energy. It aims to help build self-esteem, a sense of community and hope for the future. Young people harvest apples that wouldn’t otherwise be used in the neighbourhood of Stovner, in Oslo.

The project

It’s an arena where young people can experience a sense of responsibility and learn to master new skills. They do so by interacting with nature and with each other in their local environment. It gives many young people work experience and a place to be together in a different and positive way.

It is based on the shared values of creating a better working life for everyone, including young people, and visual communication, that Líf Laga and Oslo grafiske fagforening collaboration came to fruition.

The visual concept for the label is based on the idea of building a community and being together. Being part of society, being proud, and building self esteem.

I used round and puffy letters. They are intertwined with each other and thereby illustrate interaction, involvement and support. One of the letters resembles an apple, with a little leaf popping out.

During the design process, I collaborated with Ina Susanne Karlsen, from Oslo graphic trade union. Ina provided me with valuable feedback and support.
